The sleek and aerodynamic styling today's Audi models are a preface to what its cars have always been about: performance. It was 1899 and German engineer August Horch started a company which bore his name. But, 10 years later, August was ousted from his company and prevented from taking the family name "Horch" with him as he launched a new car company. Thanks to a young student studying Latin, Horch was handed a new name that's become synonymous with fast, fun and precise engineering. The student pointed out that, in German, Horch means "Listen," and the Latin equivalent is "Audi."
