If its muscle you want, Shelby's got plenty. The Shelby Mustang has its genesis in the 1960s and the name of famed Formula One racer Carroll Hall Shelby behind it. This series of special Ford Mustangs was a boutique division in which Carroll Shelby modified the cars and sold them in a series. Fans of Mustangs and Shelby took quickly to the idea of limited edition Muscle Cars, easily identifiable on the roadways of America.

Shelby, as business entrepreneur, also partnered with the Hertz Corporation to make a proprietary line of GT350s which, after their rental life was over, could be sold to the public. Each news series featured some special addition to the former model. Most often, the engine was made more powerful and interesting for drivers. The 1968 GT350 had a 302 cubic inch V-8 while the GT500 had a 428 cubic-inch Police Inceptor engine under the hood.
